While working on the designs for a new public Art Gallery in Woking, the Architects of the London Eye; Marks Barfield, approached the art collective Greyworld and asked them to assist in the design of a pattern for (Guggenheim-esque) titanium tiles to adorn 70% of the exterior of the new Gallery.

Greyworld commissioned me to develop a piece of software capable of generating organic, mathematical tile patterns which would also allow quick and easy control over tile size and palette.

The resulting software enabled us to rapidly explore hundreds of different variations. We soon began to find patterns and colour

palettes that we felt would work for the gallery.
